Reducing Premiums - Cover type
First you must decide what type of cover you require. The options are third
party, third party fire and theft or fully comprehensive. Third
Party
Third
party insurance will cover the costs of any damage or injury you cause to
anybody else. It will not cover the damage to your own vehicle. Third
Party, Fire and Theft
Third
Party Fire and theft also covers your vehicle against accidental fire or theft.
The difference in cost between third party and third party fire and theft is
negligible so you should always choose the fire and theft option unless you
really cannot afford it. Fully Comprehensive
Fully comprehensive will
cover all damage and injury to anybody involved in an accident. This is the
highest level of cover and consequently the most expensive. If your car has any
significant value, fully comprehensive cover is the best option. However, if
your car has little value, the cost of fully comprehensive insurance may be more
than the value of the car and so third party would be the sensible option.
